More than a year ago, we told you that a 38-unit project under the El in Kensington, which had been planned since at least 2017, may be moving forward. The project, on the northwest corner of Front and Oxford in Kensington, entails a 5-story building with 38 residential units and ground floor retail space.
At the time we wrote that article, a demo permit was already posted on the old industrial building. In the following months, the warehouse was demolished and site work began. If you stop by the site today, you will see a large hole in the ground right next to the train tracks.
This project is now officially underway and new renderings by KJO Architecture were recently released. The new design is similar to the original renderings we published, but are cleaner with a bolder blue color adorning the facade.
We look forward to this building rising and another retail business opening along the Front St. commercial corridor. The future residents of this building will be a short walk to the subway stop and to all the amenities in Fishtown.
More renderings are available on our Instagram page via the widget below. How do you feel about the new design?
